This page is where a vision for the future of this network is spelled out, so that we we can efficiently bring the Gospel to the world. (Hab 2:2 Write the vision and make it plain so that all can read it)
Some key objectives are identified, and we are open to suggestions. All members can provide input, and help to fine tune the process. (Proverbs 24:6 ...for by wise guidance you wage your war; and victory is in many advisers).
The "Gospel-Jukebox" project
is well under way. The script is up and running and is in the process of being configured and customized. It will meet or exceed our goals, in fact, it brings new functionality not even imagined when this list was written.
1. Songs searchable by Author, Title, Artist, Publisher, Copyright
2. Statistics tracking. Most plays for the week, month, year.
3. Each member having the ability to "VOTE" for their favorite songs - a ranking system.
4. A top 100 list, Top 40, and Top 10 - automatically generated based on plays/votes
5. The ability to produce a "PlayList" report for BMI/ASCAP for Royalties
6. Join Christian Copyright License Library out of Portland, Oregon.
7. The ability to stream in all formats, for mobile devices radio and satellite.
8. The ability to sell downloads, and physical sales, and automatically pay the artists.
We need sponsors, who can DONATE
toward the cost of this development, and future expansion. Radio station software and licenses have already been purchased and this is the next area which will be fully exploited as a soul winning
outreach. Currently a playlist is streaming and a DJ port is available for live shows and interviews.
Our staff is growing and organizing around a Board of Directors comprised of senior leaders. The current structure is outlined HERE.
Our mission remains to win souls and feed kids. Verifiable progress has been made in both areas, and basic policies remain unchanged. Moving forward, it will be by recruiting capable staff and implementing technical enhancements, that will cause the greatest improvements in our ability to fulfill our mission. This road map is focused on the technical hurdles.
Ning has long term plans to allow greater API access, which may (or may not), allow for the advanced customizations we need to move forward. Another factor is the expense to stay Ning Pro in the long term. Eventually, we should leave this platform and have our own source code, which we can customize at our convenience and discretion.
However, a move must be seamless, retain all content, and provide a similar look and feel. Members should not have to re-upload anything, or even notice a difference (other than improved functionality).
Owning our own script (the "Jukebox
"), is a good first step, and various modules can be purchased to enhance it's capabilities. It can also be bridged to other platforms like Joomla, allowing for great flexibility and design options. It provides something Ning lacks - the ability to own your own source code, with complete freedom to customize.
Moving in this direction allows music features like those of ReverbNation, plus mobile/satellite/radio feeds, and the social networking capabilities we currently enjoy. Instead of slow, clunky, 3rd party apps, our custom features will be native and fast. They will be fully integrated as part of the script, instead of simply linked and loading from elsewhere. User experience will greatly improve.
Indie Gospel will be made available on every type of device, from i-Pods to car radios. The songs are already uploaded and the list is growing. Only lack of funding, prevents us from spreading to these outlets.
